Sick book! A collection of articles about the ways in which our ability to cool ourselves, our food, our industry, etc is a hallmark of the anthropocene. It’s not the whole story, but it is an often overlooked narrative, and no opportunity is wasted here to tell that story.

The piece on the history of refrigerated transport in the British Empire is especially good. I had not considered the ways in which that country would have been motivated to develop such a supply chain, but it makes a lot of sense.
